Songs of Hope's new CD, "Homeward"

I have been fortunate to take part in the Great East Japan Earthquake recovery support organization, Songs of Hope.  SoH released a CD, "Homeward."  It's a collection of pieces by (mostly) Japanese composers, performed by eleven of the Songs of Hope artists.

Bach in the Subway Seattle

Seattle Public Library, 1000 4th Avenue, Seattle, WA

The day will sure to bring a special joy!  I will be taking part in the international project:  Bach in the Subway 2017.

As I imagine how this day might unfold, I can't stop smiling.  Bach can be heard everywhere in the city!  What an amazing day this is going to be!  I am so happy and excited to take part in an amazing global project, and I hope many of my international colleague will join in.  My wonderful students at Ballard High School and some of my devoted private students will be performing as well.  I will be performing as "Doctors in Resonance," a marimba Duo with Dr, Kendra McLean,

North Corner Chamber Orchestra: Solstice celebration

Magnolia United Church of Christ, 3555 W McGraw St, Seattle, Washington

I am fortunate to join the amazing conductor-less chamber orchestra to perform the work of a very talented composer, Angelique.  The best part, for me, is that I get to perform with Miriam!  I can't wait!

Celebrate the return of the light at NOCCO's annual Solstice Celebration. At two very special venues, the Magnolia UCC (Sunday) and the University Christian Church (Monday), NOCCO will offer a sonic respite with music of Stravinsky, Respighi, and Bach, plus a work by Seattle composer Angelique Poteat: Floral Interactions for winds.

Master Classes

From birth, we are hard-wired to learn by observing, listening to and imitating those around us.  Master classes offer the opportunity to learn from and with other musicians.  I have had amazing experiences of students being magically transformed on stage during a master class.  I love the nature of the master class and the spontaneity of it...how nothing can be preplanned, and we all just have to go with the flow!!
